Well after about six months of playing APF 2K8 as my primary sports game( I also played a little Blitz) I am back to 2K5. Every time I take a little vacation from this game I always come back more impresed and obsessed. I really love any game that has a staying power.
It frustrates me that as a hardcore football fan I have to play either a 5 year old game or a game of only Legends just to achieve the "sim' feel of a Sunday. When I play NBA 2K9 I just sit back and wonder, What if? I pop in a copy of NBA 2K5 and compare the difference to todays game. Wow!!! If there was a NFl 2K9 it would be unbelievable, 10 times the game of All Pro.
Why do I say this you ask ? Well Alp was made three years after and I believe with a sports game in particular the lost years would have been huge in achieving perfection. I know a lot of people use the 2K5 is better than Madden argument, in fact beat it to death. I am here to say that they are both in there own right great. I personally switched to 2K foorball in 99 when the dreamcast came out. I have been a big fan of football video games all the from Tecmo until now.
You see from 1989 until 2004 we had a choice. Tecmo Bowl of Madden, Joe Montana Football of Troy Aikman football. In 1999 a company finally decided to attemt to focus not only on gameplay but also on the presentation of making a football game an event. I am all for having multiple football game on market. Madden is to me a kid game. Not trying to offend the Madden fans.
When I was 17 I got NFL 2K. My cousins play Madden from the beginning until now. They were between 5 to 10 years younger than me. I would go over to visit and of cource we would have a Madden tournament. Full games of running back twenty yards and completing perfect passe to recievers throwing off one leg and all the junk that keeps people away from Madden. When they would play 2K at my house a game would neve get finished. Of cource those tactics absolutley do not work 80% of the time. Controllers getting thrown on the ground and 49 to nothing beatdowns would insue.
In closing a video game fans can like any game, Madden 2K5, Blitz. A true football fan wants to recreate the "chess Match" feel of a Sunday. We deserve a choice. People will always buy Madden. It is a true pick up and play game(espicially with the new virtual training thing). I have a choice and that is to play APF and 2K5. Every game has something to offer not just to everyone.
